My thesis focused on my own translation of an extract of author Hiroshi Ogiwara’s Ashita no Kioku (明日の記憶: Memories of Tomorrow) and the translation of style in literature, for which I achieved a high distinction. I have been a full-time technical translator since 2016, specialising in patents and life sciences. I achieved NAATI certification as a Japanese into English translator in 2017, and I am a current member of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) and the Japan Association of Translators (JAT). In 2022, my business continued to grow and I began operating under the name ‘Wildcat Translations’ and started collaborating with trusted colleagues on projects. Anecdotally, I am also a descendant of Asajiro Noda, said to be the first Japanese person to settle in New Zealand. Outside of my work as a Japanese translator, I have diverse interests.
